Althought Romaine was only with us for a year he gave every one that met him such joy and happiness. there was not a day that did not pass when he had a smile on his face and what a chheky smile it was. we lost Romaine to a rare condition called Mitochondrial sytopathy a genetic disorder that not much is know about We lost romaine in december of last year after a very hard and trying four months of hospitals intensive care where we was told several times to say our good byesbut our "lilfighter" kept going and made sure he was off life support for his first birthday n his second christmas and what a christmas that was thanks to keech. We went to keech on the 21st december from gosh (great ormond street hospital) where we was met by loving, kind members of staff who made us feel like we were the only family that mattered we was taken to Romaines room where we was given the option to say in his room or have our own room in the same building. We was given the night to settle but never left alone, the next morning we was shown around keech and was told about all the things we could do with romez, there was so many things, we took him swimming made handand feet casts we spent lots of time in the sensory room. on christmas day we woke to a hamper for us n presents for romaine, it was lovely we had a lovely dinner cooked for us and was made to feel like this was us sitting at home with our "lil romez", our familys came to visit aswell and staff had no problems with it, when i thought about going to a hospice never did i imagine that it would be such a warm, loving, caring experience. After romaine had passed the staff were very helpful they gave us as much time with him as we wanted, i gave him a bath and got him ready for the Meadow suite they have it is kind of like a chapel of rest but much nicer and child orientated we had him there for a day before he went we had a tv playing his favuorite dvd thomas the tank enging
